Eastham crawled aown to the tractor thinking he could still drive the tractor back. He pulled himself up by the fender over the back wheel but unfortunately he could not pull himself up on the tractor.
Eastham turned the tractor off and tried hollering for help but no one was able to hear him because the wind was blowing so strongly.
Eastham stayed leaning across the back wheel and holding onto the fender. He remained that way until the next morning when he was found by his wife, Mckie, and his sister, Lizzie. Neither of them had been concerned by Eastham’s absence because he frequently worked long hours on equipment at night.
Eastham says that he was very fortunate that the Lord was with him and that one of the things that saved him during the 12-15 degree weather was that he wore many layers of clothing.
