Miller takes second

Rappahannock County High School Senior Jeremy Miller took second place in the SkillsUSA regional welding competition, held in Manassas last Tuesday. The contest was sponsored by the Arcet Equipment company, and included a written test as well as several welding challenges.

“It’s a very difficult competition,” said John Norman, RCHS Welding Instructor. For the welding portions, students are given a blueprint for a weld, and are judged on the strength and accuracy of the result. For placing second, Miller won a a welding helmet and gloves, over $50 in value. First place winner Tim Reaping, a student at Monroe Technical Center, will go on to state competition.
