“I’m extremely pleased with the season. We learned to play together as a team more,” Johns added. “We played with heart, intensity and desire. Next year, well be even further along.”
This is the second time that district coaches have honored Johns this season. In the fall, she was named second team in volleyball.
Clarke County, which currently boasts a 23-0 overall record, placed four of its five starters - Maddie Crosby, Leslie Hardesty, Taylor Warner and Jill Hobbs - on the first or second teams. Warner also captured Most Valuable Player honors. Tim Lawrence was tapped as the Coach of the Year.
George Mason, the district and Region B runnerup, had three players on the first and second teams, including 2005 MVP Maggie OTbole.
Ironically, basketball is not Johns’ favorite of the three sports she plays at Rappahannock. She prefers softball,
