At this point of the high school wrestling season, all the pinning combinations are just not that important. At least that is what Rappahannock County head coach Jim Herzog believes.
“We are working on conditioning and minimal skills,” he said. “In my opinion, we are in really good condition right now, and you need to be when you are going to states.”
Rappahannock’s wrestlers will need superior conditioning to post the type of results that they desire when they compete Friday and Saturday at the Group A State Wrestling Championships in Salem.
Dee Allen, Alex Sharp and Isaac Raney all qualified for the state tournament with outstanding showings at Saturday night’s Region B championships in Strasburg.
Allen raised his record to 250 in defeating Manassas Park’s Matt Gosalves, 5-1, to capture the 145-pound title. It was the second straight Saturday that the two faced off for a title. At the Bull Rim District champi
