renting out. Particularly attracting the ire of the neighbors was Gadde’s hot tub , which they say is the source of most of the noise and light pollution of weekend renters. Although initially members of the BZA discussed granting the application provisionally with time restrictions on the use of the hot tub, as had been recommended by the planning commission, the strident testimony of the neighbors changed their minds.
“This is the third time in several months that we’ve had an outpouring of community values, this is an inappropriate use,” said BZA member Jennifer Matthews.
In marked contrast to the Gadde application, the BZA approved the application of Jay Miller to build a combination real estate farm office on the edges of the Town of Washington. Miller’s application included a signed letter form all of his immediate neighbors, approving of his plan.
