Rappahannock County High School head varsity girls basketball coach Rhonda Jenkins always knew that she had some strong players.
And the other head coaches in the Group A Bull Run District agreed. They unanimously voted sophomore guard Noel Johns to second team district honors.
“Noel had to play a lot of multiple positions for us,” Jenkins said. “She’s not truly a point guard, but she had to play there for us. Sometimes she was a power forward, because she is a good rebounder. She’s a smart ballplayer. I thought that she might make the team. The coaches were very supportive. They knew we were young, but they took notice that we have improved.”
Johns averaged nearly 10 points a game for the Lady Panthers, who met their team goal with five victories this season. She believes that, despite the graduation losses of fellow guard Courtney Hutchinson and forward Samantha Brown,
