Dozens of customers crowded into Sunnyside Market in the Town of Washington on Wednesday to grab a deal and say goodbye to the only market in town.
The hordes turned out following an announcement that the market is scheduled to close Sunday and is selling its entire inventory at half price for the remainder of the week.
Bottles of wine, organic produce and other gourmet and specialty foods marked down 50 percent were snatched off shelves as shoppers waited in a checkout line that snaked around the main room of the small store on Gay Street.
Robert Smith, of Old Hollow, stocked up on wine.
“It’s half price, I might as well,” he said. “I’ve been a good customer here for a long time. I’m sad to see it go."
