What a wonderful year the

RCHS Cross Country team has had! Under the superb guidance of coaches Dave Gillis, Scott Wilde and Pam Chovnik, the team has excelled at every meet (And Kaite Payne, RCHS Senior and team manager, has provided valuable assistance to the coaching staff.)

The support of the community has been critical to the team’s success as well, and I would like to express our collective gratitude (on behalf of all of our cross country families) to a few of them. The Blue Rock Inn has provided us with the most beautiful course in the district (all Bull Run District coaches say so), and has done so for many years. We are extremely grateful for this very generous gesture! Rev. Phil Bailey, a cross country star in college (did you know that?) almost never misses a home event, and has always been eager to encourage our athletes. Sharon Kilpatrick, a major RCHS athletic booster whose own children have long since graduated, could be seen on the sidelines at nearly every home meet cheering on our runners, Ann Spieker, always with camera in hand, has taken a multitude of pictures of our runners to send to Rapp News after each home meet, and the Rappahannock News has provided prolific coverage of our talented runners all season.
