handguns were stolen. During the investigation, Coy B. Dye, 38, of Front Royal, VA, turned himself into the Warren County law enforcement officials. “I think he realized what he had done and how horrible it was to steal from his family,” said Rappahannock County Sheriff Lany Sherertz. Dye has been charged with three charges of grand larceny. He is cooperating with the investigation as the RCSO is in the process of recovering the stolen items.
Stolen siding
Thirty pieces of 5/8 inch siding were reported stolen from a building site on Sperryville Pike on October 28. The value of the siding was estimated to be approximately $1,116. The case is under investigation by the Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office.
Assault arrest
Sheriff deputies met with a woman on October 24, who complained that her boyfriend, Roger Lee Hitt, 72, had destroyed property in their house and had kicked her in the ribs. Further investigation led to the arrest of Hitt for assault. Hitt is currently incarcerated in the Rappahannock County Jail.
