“I love any form of art, but ceramics is a very beautiful, tactful way of expressing myself,” she said.
Homing says she became interested in ceramics, in part, through necessity.
“I began buying ceramics and needing them around me,” she said.
So Homing took a ceramics class in Falls Church from Vally Possony, a very effective teacher who Homing compares to a drill sergeant. During the course, Homing became interested in the Japanese techniques of hamada and mingei, which means “beautiful things for everyday use.”
Soon after taking the class, Homing formed the Tbad Hall pottery group, a cost-sharing co-operative, with some friends in Washington, D.C. Another member of the group, Annette Klayman, will accompany Homing at her studio during the tour on Saturday and Sunday.
