There is a lot to talk about this week on my side of the state, but first I would like to stop and take a minute to thank those who have been so kind and encouraging towards me and my column. I just assumed that nobody would read it or even take the time to glance over the words that I spew out every month; but I was wrong. I have received praise and adulation from people that I would have never thought would read my little innocent column. I really appreciate the feedback from the people and it makes me feel like I am doing something right and important. So thank you all for reading my column and thank you for your support. Now then, on to more exciting things.
Cool Web site
I would like to bring to your attention a very interesting and exciting Web site that I am involved in here at school. Planetblacksburg.com is a student-created and student-run online newspaper pertinent to everything in the town of Blacksburg and to the microcosm that is Virginia Tech University. This Web site was created last year by a student in collaboration with one of my professors, Roland Lazenby, to give students the chance to have their writing published on the World Wide Web. Since then in one year, Planetblacksburg.com has mushroomed into a site that receives on average 18,000 hits per day (which is more hits than issues that our competitor, The Collegiate Times, prints for its daily edition) from all over the world. I am the entertainment editor and regular contributor to the site and it truly is an exciting and educational experience. On the Web site we have written stories, streaming videos, video documentaries, pod casts, football game photo galleries, sports news, entertainment, hard news, political cartoons, opinion and much more. So 1 encourage you to check out Planetblacksburg.com and see for yourself what the young journalists of today will be writing for you tomorrow.
A grand game
Switching gears, the Hokies defeated the Clemson Tigers last Thursday night, and I was one of the lucky ones that got to go to the game. I love Thursday night games; there is something special in the air that intoxicates you with every breath. There is nothing more exciting than the adrenaline rush that flushes across your body as the fireworks boom overhead and the Hokies pour out on to Worsham Field. It is quite a scene, and it is something that I will remember for the rest of my life as someday when I grow old I will look back and get nostalgic for. After we handled the tenth ranked Tigers 24-7, and as the game clock languidly wound down to nothing, we could hardly contain the elation and decided to rush the field in a fit of
