Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day will be celebrated across the nation on November 11, 2006. Here in Rappahannock County, Virginia, a special program will be held on November 10 at the Rappahannock County High School honoring our service men and women. All members of the community are welcome to join the student body at 11 a.m. in the high school gymnasium. Chris Wheatley will be the guest speaker and the Rappahannock County High School Concert Band will perform, led by band director Matt Yonkey.
The Rappahannock County Band Boosters will line the front oval driveway of the school with flags in honor of and in memory of our service men and women. Each flag will bear a small tag listing a service member’s name, rank, and branch of service. Each high school student will be given a flag to use or memorialize or honor a Veteran. In addition, the public may purchase flags so that they too, may honor our Veterans. Order forms will be available at the Rappahannock County Library, local shops, and post offices. The deadline for ordering flags is November 6.
The program is open to the public and no admission will be charged. The Lion’s Club is assisting with expenses. Following the program, the Band Boosters will provide a short reception for members of the community.
Upcoming Events
The Rappahannock County High School students will host a Veteran’s Day Program in the high school gymnasium on Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. The public is invited free of charge to join the student body for the program and short reception following. Flags may be ordered using forms located at the Public Library, Post Offices, and local shops or by calling Sally Havstad at 987-9342.
