Since it’s been a very quiet week in beautiful downtown Amissville, I thought I’d take this opportunity to share a little about this community. Whether you’re a newcomer or have lived here for years, there are probably a few things you didn’t know about Amissville. I love history but will freely admit to not knowing enough about the history of where I make my home. And, as I started to dig in I realized that there’s not all that much information readily accessible. In a place where the roots go back so far, that seems unusual to me. Sometimes it’s a matter of knowing where to look. I hope to find out what else the Rappahannock County Historical Society has to share regarding our history.
If you think back to the first time you saw the name of this community, you probably struggled to pronounce it. And, chances are, every time some-one looks at your address these days they look at you quizzically
