School

From Page A1

If the county approves Mountain Laurel’s special exception permit, the school will start classes at the Flint Hill property next Fall.

Second effort

This is the farm school’s second attempt to move to property in the Flint Hill area.

In February, the school’s proposed move to a house on Bear Wallow Road ignited strong opposition from neighborhood residents, who packed the Rappahannock County Courthouse for a County Planning Commission public hearing ofl the issue.

Glier withdrew the application after neighbors of the property complained that the location was inadequate to handle traffic and potential emergencies for a school.

“We thought it was a perfect property in a lot of ways, but we could not overcome that it was on a secondary fughway,” Glier said.
