AQUATICS COORDINATOR
Department of Parks. Recreation and Community Services position for the new indoor recreation center currently under construction at Claude Moore Park in Sterling, VA. scheduled to open early 2007. This position will assist the center manager with the development and implementation of an aquatics program for the recreation center, perform and/or coordinate daily site safety checks, pool inspections, minor maintenance and repair^ according to Virginia Department of Health requirements. Ensuju a safe, clean, secure and aesthetically pleasing environment, ffevelop pool operating policies, safety requirements, emergency procedures and lifeguard staff training manual. Promote and implement programs for lap and leisure pools, including rentals, open swim, aquatic instruction and fitness, swim meets and special events. Recruit, train, and certify qualified temporary pool staff. Manage staff performance in accordance with Human Resources policies. Maintain CPR and First Aid training to be able to instruct other staff and to serve as a first responder. Provide high quality customer service and ensure all pool staff respond to customer service needs. Must be willing to work a very flexible work schedule; early mornings, nights, days and weekends to meet center needs. Requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Recreation and Leisure Services or related field and a minimum of two years related experience in aquatics programming and pool facility management working with, the public. Experience must include one year supervisory experience in an aquatics environment. Requires Pool Operators license and additional training related to building systems to include HVAC and pool mechanical systems. Also requires Lifeguard, WS1. CPR, First Aid, and CPR/First Aid Instructor certifications. All required certifications must be indicated on application to be considered for recruitment.
