Hazel Ardelle Putnam Cooke, 95, of Amissville. Va., died April 7, 2009, at MontVue Nursing Home in Lurav, Va. She was born Dec. 27, 1913, in Rappahannock County to the late Noah and Mary Grimslev Putnam. Mrs. Cooke worked at the Aileen Sewing Factory- for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer James Cooke; her son, James Randolph Cooke; and her siblings, Thelma Poe, Calvin Putnam, Lorelle Burner, Elwood Putnam and Bedford Putnam. Survivors include her children, Peggy- Menefee of Amissville and Doris Jenkins of Rixeyville, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and one greatgreat-granddaughter.
A graveside service was held April 10 at .Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery- with the Rev. Ed Taylor officiating.
