The U.S. consumer-based economy has become a fraud, like the air-filled Lays potato chip bag - a spending orgy that fed on the cult of materialism and keeping up with the Jones', finance companies peddling credit like drugs, and consumer stupidity and irresponsibility. It was doomed to collapse. Unless Americans are truly stupid, they will relearn the old virtues of “save more and spend less." And that should include our county government. Don't expect consumer spending to bounce back to where it was. Supervisors, please cut out the nonsense!
