Russell, son of our own James Russell, began studying classical and Flamenco guitar at an early age and began his professional career with a soul and blues band in the 60s. His first national tour for his recording “Black Woman” helped launch his music and in 1972 his jazzrock group performed “Andy Warhol” at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. \

His CD with Kera reached the “Top Ten European World Music” charts. Russell also has performed in South Africa, Greece, Germany and Poland. Russell and Kera’s musical group. Black Heritage, is based in Germany and performs internationally. They are regular performers at Blues Aliev in Washington, D.C.
