NOTICE OF INTENT TO MAKE APPOINTMENTS
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE The Board of Supervisors of Rappahannock County is seeking applicants for the temporary, volunteer Rappahannock County Economic Development Advisory Committee (RCEDAC) it intends to form. The purpose of the committee is outlined in the following Mission Statement, adopted by the Board of Supervisors on April 6, 2009:
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors is seeking to determine what measures it may take to increase suitable local employment, to improve the competitiveness of local businesses and to promote the location of businesses. to the County.
The Rappahannock County Economic Development Advisory Committee (RCEDAC) shall be appointed by the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors for a period not to exceed one year. One member of the Board of Supervisors shall be appointed to the RCEDAC. Its purpose is to assess the state of economic activities and trades in the County, and to make such recommendations, as it deems approphate to the Board, in the form of a report, which shall be provided to the Board of Supervisors at the conclusion of its term. The RCEDAC shall be free to submit such interim reports, as it deems prudent or necessary. .
The RCEDAC shall be guided in its deliberations and conclusions by the Rappahannock County Comprehensive Plan, and most particularly by the goals, principles, and policies outlined therein. Within that framework, the RCEDAC shall be free to make any recommendations to the Board as to the County's policies concerning land use regulation, taxation, or such other areas as may become apparent.
The County Administrator shall provide staff support to the RCEDAC as his schedule allows, and all County elected and appointed officials are encouraged to provide such information and data as may be requested by committee.
In order to gain access to the best ideas and range of experiences, county permanent or part-time residents are eligible, but the Board will prefer applicants who are permanent residents of the County, with further preference to business owners and operators here or elsewhere.
