Finishing second in Saturday’s “It’s Academic” competition garnered the Panthers a much needed $500 from Giant Food toward that Chicago appearance.
“It was $500 more than we had on Friday, and I was happy to take second,” Naser said. “I’m hoping that they will ask us back in the future.”
The team still needs about $800 in donations to finance the trip, so they will host an Academic Challenge May 5 from 7-9 p.m. Naser said that the Panthers will play 20-question rounds against all-star teams from the community. The registration fee for an all-star team is $25.
“I have been overwhelmed by the support this community has shown us so far,” Naser said.
