John Cornell Towner

September 19, 1947-March 31, 2009

John Cornell Towner, age 61, died at home on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was bom September 19, 1947 in Los Angeles. California, to Betty Virginia Cornell Towner and John Morrison Towner.

John graduated from John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in 1965, and enlisted in the United States Army in 1966. He served in Vietnam in the 1st Cavalry Division from June 1967 to June 1968. After his honorable discharge in July of 1972, John completed the apprenticeship program for the International Union of Operating Engineers. California Local 12. He worked for over 30 years in the field, most recently as a crane operator. He and his wife of 20 years, Jacque. moved from California to Flint Hill. Virginia in 2003.
