Devers
Joseph Randolph Devers, 70, of Sperryville died September 22, 1977 in Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Vickie Pittard, was held Sunday at the Sperryville United Methodist Church. Burial followed in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, with Masonic rites. He was a son of William Randolph and Ida Varner Devers and a native ol Rappahannock, born Augusl 18, 1907 in Flint Hill.
Mr. Devers was a membei of Sperryville United Methodist Church, chairman of its administrative board, Sunday School teacher and past superintendent. He was a member of Washington Masonic Lodge No. 78 AF & AM, serving as its secretary, and was retired from FMC Corporation in Front Royal.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Estes Devers oi Sperryville; a son, James William Devers of Fronl Royal; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland ol Sperryville and five grand children.
Also surviving are two brothers, George V. Devers and William J. Devers, both of Front Royal; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Miller ol Atlanta, Ga.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Sperryville United Methodist Church.
