James Swindler, a student at Rappahannock County High School, has achieved the status of Commended Student in the 1978 Merit Scholarship Program. This honor was acquired as the result of outstanding performance on the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude TestNational Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test which was administered in October 1976. Swindler received a letter of commendation.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Swindler of Sperryville, and was among the approximately 35,000 commended students throughout the United States. Mr. and Mrs. Carson Edwards and Theresa of Catlett were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dodson and family.
Mrs. Ethel Hitt was a weekend guest of her son-inlaw and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Eckardt. Tuesday callers of the Eckardts were Mrs. Shirley Dodson and Mrs. Joan Reid. Clifford Cooke, who was a patient in Culpeper Memorial Hospital, has returned to his home.
Musical Program
The Upper Room Singers from Richmond will present a program of music at Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 3:00 p.m. for the benefit of the Young Adult Choir. The public is invited.
