With the weather turning cooler it's time to think of weather-proofing our homes. Whether you want to save money or are concerned with conserving our energy resources, you will learn ways to do both at the Energy Workshop, this Tuesday, Oct. 4, 1977 at 7:30 p.m. at the Court House.
The water heater is one of the largest consumers of energy. Following are ways to reduce waste in your daily use of hot water:
1. Make sure faucets turn completely off.
2. Set water heat at 140 degrees if you have a dishwasher, 125-130 degrees if you don’t.
3. Locate water heater as close as possible to hot water using appliances.
4. Insulate water pipes leading from tank.
5. Drain sediment from bottom of tank several times a year.
6. Turn water heater off, if you plan to be away for several days. CORRECTION: In last week’s recipe for FRESH APPLE CAKE, the salt and soda measurements should have been one teaspoon salt and one teaspoon soda.
