Burglarized
Two homes, one near Amissville and the other near Castleton, have recently been burglarized in daylight hours, according to Deputy R. D. Hawkins. Goods valued in excess of $1500 was taken from each. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Nicholas on Route 640 west of Amissville was entered April 13 between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Thief or thieves gained entry into the house by breaking a pane of glass in a back door, said Hawkins.
A large number of guns, a knife and a scanner were taken; apparently wrapped up in a bedspread from the Nicholas house.
April 19 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hitt near Castleton was broken into. Entry was gained by prying open a rear door. A large number of knives, guns and cameras were taken. The investigation with the aid of state investigators continues, according to Deputy Hawkins.
