But let’s not play Joe McCarthy in Rappahannock County. And let’s not use innocent children as pawns in wage controversies as has already been done in certain unbeautiful places elsewhere. Let's not assume that the residents of Rappahannock County are stupid mountaineers who are incapable of seeing through such ploys. And let’s stop fomenting anger against teachers in this County with published diatribes and "resolutions of no confidence” in the School Board. Teachers should have confidence or no confidence in their supervisors. If teachers are going to ignore organizational channels completely, who not go all the way and send a resolution of no confidence to Jimmy Carter? (I might even sign that one myself!)
In closing, let me say that I agree on two points (points I tried to make in my statement to the School Board).
(a) The teachers should be checked at their work.
