Washington residents should be proud of the concern for the appearance and welfare of the community not found in most areas, especially in larger cities. If Mr. Davis feels this concern is socialist, then he is sadly mistaken. True, the property is his; however, under our government he may do with it as he pleases, but only within the limits of the law. Washington is a small town with an !m-* pressive historical tradition and being such, every person has a responsibility to see that his community is governed well—this includes zoning,
The Board of Supervisors is elected by us, and we in turn have the right of free speech to express whatever opinions and feelings we desire to the Board. So does Mr Davis, but the majority rules, and should the majority vote the zoning to remain unchanged, so it must be.
We newcomers do not want to live in England or Russia. We want to live here, now, as it is and not as it might be if the zoning is approved. We are not acquainted with Mr. or Mrs. Davis and. therefore, are not aware of their possible, if favorable, plans for their property.
