Elizabeth Ragsdale, speech therapist for the Rappahannock school system, teaches the art of communication. “Speech and language aren’t the easiest things for a lot of youngsters to learn. It isn’t automatic...Children learn to talk by practicing and listening to others so you have to be a good model for them,” she said.
For a variety of reasons, some children have problems with speech. Elizabeth’s job is to make her students aware of their errors and to help them correct their mistakes. "They have to learn so they can communicate with others and understand what people say to them,” she said.
