Route 211 — Amissville

937-5111

Have you ever wondered what the word “Sanforized” means on a fabric? Actually, it’s a trademark—or a type of p re-shrinking. If you’re buying yard goods for draperies or slip covers, look for the label that says “preshrunk” and then look further. If residual shrinkage is stated as 2 percent or less, that’s fine! If more than 2 percent, the fabric may be altered by washing or ironing. So be careful! Preshrunk finishes enhance textile fibers by making them stronger and the process has no effect on color or texture. It’s an added plus when planning fabric decor in your home.
