Academic honors for the graduating class at Rappahanock County High School have been announced by principal Dennis Wingfield.

Melanie Thornhill of Boston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thornhill, will be valedictorian of the class. Among her activites in the past five years are mem-, bership in the National Honor Society, KVG and SCA. as well as section editor of the annual staff. This fall she will enter the University of Virginia.

Salutatorian of the class will be Karen Murray of Castleton. She is president of the senior class and was also president of her junior class. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the annual staff. Karen attended the Virginia Governor’s School for the Gifted. She plans to attend Randolph-Macon Women’s College in Lynchburg this fall and will major in economics. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Murray.

Placing third academically is Julia Gordon of Sperryville who is a member of the National Honor Society (11 & 12th grades) and is secretarytreasurer of it this year. She has been on the annual staff for two years. Julia’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Gordon and she has no certain plans for next year just yet.
