Park Visits
Increase
As the start of Virginia’s tourist season approaches, visits to Shenandoah National Park continue to show a slight increase. In April 1979, 142,800 travelers visited the park—an increase of 1.1 per cent over the 141,300 visitors in April, 1978. For Calendar Year 1979 compared to Calendar Year 1978, the increase is 1.5 per cent.
Overnight stays to date total 46,742 compared to 46,127 for the same period last year.
As measured at the Big Meadows weather station, the maximum temperature for April was 72 degrees, the minimum 16 degrees and precipitation totaled 5.16 inches.
Revival
Gid Brown Bible Church will have revival services May 30 to June 8 each evening at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Evangelist Don McCann from Kingsport, Tenn. There will be special singing each evening.
Homecoming services will be held Sunday, June 3 beginning at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend.
