At their May 16 meeting, the Rappahannock planning commissioners agreed to advertize a public hearing for May 13 on rezoning the old mill property just outside the Washington town limits from agricultural to commercial (RB-1).
Furniture craftsman Peter Kramer told the planners that he and his partner, Washington D.C. attorney Joel Fisher, have a contract to buy the old mill and snack bar building with approximately three acres. "I’d like to restore the mill but it needs economic viability,” said Kramer. “I don't want to sink $50,000 to $60,000 in the building and not get any use out of it.”
