Virginia state parks will open for the 1979 season on Saturday, May 26. Activities and facilities include horseback riding, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and nature observation. In addition, Chippokes Plantation, Hungry Mother. Claytor Lake and Westmoreland State Parks offer arts and crafts activities.
Eight state parks provide rustic cabins for rent until October 1 and camping is available in 14 parks with 1,400 campsites for rent from one to 14 days at $3.64 per night.
Reservations for cabins and campsites can be made in person at any state park with cabins and-or campsites, or at commercial Ticketron terminals. Reservations can also be made by mail, along with appropriate fees, to the Ticketron Reservation Center, Box 62284, Virginia'
