The Safety Service Patrol of the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation will travel 260 miles of the state’s interstate highway system during peak periods of the Memorial Day weekend to assist holiday motorists whose vehicles become disabled.
The specially-equipped pickup trucks will operate from 4:30 p.m. to midnight on Friday (May 25); from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday (May 26), and from noon to midnight on Monday (May 28), according to C. O. Leigh, the department’s maintenance engineer.
