The North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and its local chapter will be the recipients of proceeds from the Upperville Colt and Horse Show, June 4-10. On Saturday, June 9, the local chapter of NARHA will give a demonstration. Handicapped children will perform on horseback, illustrating how riding restores confidence, teaches independence and improves balance, coordination and posture.
The week-long Horse and Colt Show will also include hunter and jumper classes, coach driving, ladies side saddle and breeding classes. The grand finale of the show, the $15,000 Michelob Jumper Gassic, will be held Sunday, June 10, at 2 p.m. Nationally famous horses and riders will compete in this event over jumps almost six feet in height.
The show grounds are located at Grafton Farm on Route 50 in Upperville.
