The Loudoun County Bar Association is not scheduled to meet until mid-September to select a possible candidate to succeed Judge Snead.
Judge Snead, 60, announced last week that he plans to retire in January after sitting on the Circuit Court bench for 27 years. Although he, too, is entitled to recommend a successor, he said that he “will not get involved in the process.”
