Also, District Court judges since 1973 have been paid an annual salary instead of being compensated by monies collected in fines and court cosjs.as w as t.he former practice.
“I would like to extend a special thanks to all the officers of the court—the clerks, deputy clerks, police, sheriffs, deputies, welfare departments, probation officers and so on—who have worked with me,” Judge Snead said last week. "They always have been efficient and courteous, making my job easier."
Judge Snead added that the most difficult aspects of being a judge are passing sentence on convicted criminals, settling divorce cases and ruling in child custody disputes. “They involve the lives and liberty of people, very precious things,” he said.
