Hanna ottered tne following nack to school safety tips for “taxi-driving” parents who drive youngsters to and from school:

Be sure all passengers are secure in safety belts or child restraints to avoid a highway tragedy.

Lock all vehicle doors to prevent passengers from falling out while the vehicle is in motion, to guard against intruders and strengthen the structure of the vehicle if it is involved in a rollover.

Books, lunch boxes and other school supplies should be stored on the floor instead of the rear window ledge where they may obstruct vision or become deadly missiles in the event of a crash.

When unloading youngsters let them out on the school side of the street to avoid car doors swinging out in traffic or students jumping into the path of an oncoming vehicle.
