Northern Piedmont Electric Cooperative registered more than 200 eligible voters out of a total of approximately 350 people in attendance at the Co-op’s August 16 annual meeting.
Delegate George P. Beard welcomed the attendants and presided over the business portion of the meeting.
The Cooperative’s vote on the issue of the consolidation of its operations with Virginia Electric Cooperative, Bowling Green, was the issue that drew most questions and comments from the members present.
Several members had prepared statements and were allotted time on the program to voice opinions prior to the casting of votes by eligible voters and to the proxy votes of members previously assigned to the Board of Directors.
Final tallying resulted in a 5479 For; 734 Against vote, 738 votes over the margin needed for approval.
