Father Maurice du Castillon will innaugurate weekly Catholic services in Rappahannock County with a mass on Sunday, August 26, at 9 a.ni. in the annex of the old Washington school.
The services are part of a program that includes the establishment of a family retreat house at Frank Skowronski’s Campion Hill just outside Washington. Long range plans call for the eventual remodeling of the Washington school and the relocation of the retreat there.
Fr. du Castillon comes to Washington from Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper where he served as pastor for 24 years.
He’s no stranger to the county. Up until a few years ago, he conducted masses in private homes here, alternating services between Oscar Lindgren’s Jessamine Hill and William Carrigan's Avon Hall.
Since both counties are part of the same diocese, he’s been the oficial spiritual counselor for Rappahannock Catholics during his 24 years in Culpeper.
