Two bridges—one on Route 618 and the other at Rock Mills—suffered substantial damage in the floods. Askew reported that the legal load limit on the Route 618 bridge will be lowered until repairs are finished while the Rock Mills bridge will be closed to traffic until the structure is rebuilt. “It’s unbelievable the amount of water that went down that valley,” he commented.
Askew noted that repairs to the Rock Mills bridge will have a high priority. "But 1 have eight bridges in my residency that I’ve got to work on before winter...I can’t tell you I’ll be in there tomorrow working it because I won’t be...We’re so snowed under,” he added.
At Askew’s request, the supervisors scheduled a public hearing on the required update to the county’s six-year road plan for the October 4 board meeting. In addition, the supervisors will meet with Askew for a work session on the road plan on Wednesday,
