The state of emergency proclaimed by Governor John Dalton in Rappahannock as a result of the August 28 flooding and throughout Virginia after hurricane David struck the East Coast last week opens up sources of emergency assistance to area residents. But the offers of help come with conditions attached. Jim Allen, county supervisor for the Farmers’ Home Administration, emphasized that low interest five percent loans to cover losses in production and damage to buildings.

Married to the former Nancy Latham, daughter of Mrs. Sarah Latham of Amissville, Hoadley is familiar to Rappahannock News readers as the cartoonist for Little Fox. A resident of Falls Church, he graduated from Indiana University with a bachelors degree in political science and earned a masters degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia.
