Republicans, Republicans, and still more Republicans. They turned out by the thousands for the third annual Atoka Country Supper at the home of Sen. John Warner last Saturday afternoon. There was Sen. Howard Baker (R-Tenn.), Governor John Dalton, Ronald Regan’s wife Nancy, former Governor of Minnesota, Harold Stassen, Sen. Robert Dole’s daughter, Robin, Attorney General Marshall Coleman, and many many more.
And a country supper it was. There were heaping helpings of barbecued chicken with all the fixings, and chocolate cake to boot.
There was a bluegrass band playing old favorites, costumed doggers (including at one point Sen. Warner himself), a 10-foot-tall Uncle Sam meandering about the grounds, and nearly 4,000 Republicans who paid S25 a head to attend the event, (and that didn’t include the drinks.
