district application is referred to the local planning commission by the board of supervisors. From there, the application goes to a special nine-member advisory board.
The advisory board evaluates the land within the proposed district on the basis of its significance for agricultural and forestal uses and in turn, submits its recommendations back to the planning commission. The planning commission conducts a public hearing before preparing recommendations on approval of the ag district to the board of supervisors.
The supervisors then conduct their own public hearing before taking action to deny or approve the district with or without modifications. At the discretion of the supervisors, the district may be set up for no less than four and no more than eight years, at which time it must be reviewed and re-established.
Use value taxation is automatically granted to anyrequesting land owner with qualifying property in an approved ag district. In addition, only those nuisance ordinances that relate directly to public health and safety are enforceable within a district. Powers of eminent
