came and helped and hauled. Our dear friends and neighbors, Capt. and Mrs. John McKay and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Eastham brought food, provender and electrical equipment as did Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sims of Boston, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Yates from Griffinsburg, Mr. and Mrs. Berkabile from Aran’s Mountain and our beloved Eottier-Eastham family of Annandale.
County forester Lyt Wood and county game warden Jim Bankston were first on the scene. They cleared a path to the freezer and took the still frozen provender to store for us in their own freezers. Thank you Lyt and James from our hearts.
Lyt came back a few nights later to cheer Mrs. Pawley and me with a galaxy of old folk tunes on his delightful dulcimer. We are more than cheered, strange as it may seem, by the tragic event of this flood—of course, by the real humanity it has revealed. God bless us all!
