At Roarin’ Rock Mills—for a couple of 80 year old lovers— being flooded out of home and shelter by one of mother nature’s wildest river rampages, forced to risk waist deep swirling current to reach higher ground and then crawling, falling and sprawling through entangling honey suckle, brambles and poison ivy to a neighbor’s home, was—as we know it now—a manifestation of the grace of God within us all!

But, we must state, this experience was not any more inspiring than the demonstration of the same principal by the members of the Rappahannock Lions Club who spent two whole days cleaning up our devastated but still standing house. These volunteers were probably the most distinguished group of disaster laborers ever assembled. Curiously, they were the elder members of the Lions Club.
