After a hot battle in the Democratic caucus, Rappahannock ended up with a county appointee to fill one of three vacant judgeships on the 20th Judicial benches in Circuit and General District Court.
Warrenton attorney and town vice mayor W. Shore Robertson was uncontested as the successor for retired Circuit Court Judge Rayner V. Snead. And John Alexander, also a Warrenton attorney, with equal ease was named to succeed retired General District Court Judge William W. Carson Jr.
