Travel on Virginia’s major highways continued" its downward trend in December with a 1.27 per cent drop over the same month in 1978.
It was the seventh consecutive month that Virginia travel declined, according to the Virginia Department of Highways and Transportation.
Travel by all passenger cars in December, 1979, showed a decrease of 1.74 per cent from the same month in 1978. Out-of-state passenger car travel dropped by 4.19 per cent and Virginia passenger car travel was down 1.46 per cent.
Commercial vehicle travel decreased by less than one per cent.
The travel analysis was compiled from counts taken at 209 locations on Virginia’s interstate, arterial, anu primary highways.
Senior Meeting
Senior citizens and others interested persons are invited to discuss programs and services for the elderly at a meeting sponsored by the Area Agency on Aging at the Hampton Inn on Thursday, February 7. The session will begin a 1 p.m.
