Wendy Helmer of Castleton has been selected to participate in a National Wider Opportunity in Scouting and Janet DeRoo of Huntly will participate as a staff member. The activity takes place from June 21 to July 11 and is sponsored by the Greater Minneapolis Girl Scout Council. The event, Voyageurs’ Rendezvous, will be held at Old Fort William, Ontario, Canada, and the Boundary Water Canoe Area in northern Minnesota.
The participants will experience the history and lifestyle of the Voyageurs and enjoy the scenic wilderness of the Boundary Waters area. Highlights of the event include serving as interns to the historical interpreters of Old Fort William, a canoe trip down the Kaminiskiki^ria River and a six-day wilderness canoe trip in the Boundary Waters area.
