In Warrenton on Tuesday, Circuit Court Judge Shore Robertson issued a restraining order enjoining the Rappahannock County Board of Zoning Appeals from implementing its decision to grant a temporary variance to the Nationwide Pentacostal Evangelistic Association.
Robertson's order also enjoins the NPEA from conducting its annual Holiness camp meeting on June 20-29 at the Association’s Castleton property.
In granting the restraining order requested by attorney David Konick on behalf of adjoining property owners, Robertson cited constitutional protection of the right to due process.
Tuesday’s ruling reversed Robertson’s earlier decision of June 13 to deny the petition for a restraining order. In the original denial, Robertson held that the landowners opposed to the NPEA campground variance had failed to show they would suffer irreparable harm if the restraining order was not granted.
